2025 Route

The third leg of my Africa journey begins in Cape Town, South Africa, in July 2025 and leads me, and occasionally company (including Nancy! and good friends Steve and Ki!), through the western and northern Cape Provinces of South Africa (i.e., essentially moving north from Cape Town along the west coast), then into Namibia for a convoluted figure-eight route, then back into South Africa and a little bit of the extreme southwest of Botswana in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (i.e., spanning South Africa and Botswana), then southward inland back to Cape Town — ultimately ending up right where I started.

Once again, my route will focus on visiting national parks and reserves in each of the two countries in an effort to experience the varied landscapes, diverse peoples, and incredible wildlife found in southern Africa. There are stunning landscapes and great hiking opportunities and a couple of spectacular wildlife Parks to visit – with the highlight being the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

Here is a list of the 14 National Parks and Reserves I plan to visit on this leg of the journey:

  • Namakwa National Park
    • Ai/Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park
    • Tankwa-Karoo National Park
    • Table Mountain National Park
    • Cape Agulhas National Park
